Initiating A Dialogue

When I entered into the world of homeopathy as a young student, I found out very soon that the satisfaction level of homeopathy students was very low in general. The atmosphere in the majority of our institutions was not conducive to constructive growth. As I grew older, I found out that there was little harmony between our teaching faculty and practitioners. There was more show and little substance. The frustration levels were high and back-biting was common. I thought this must be present only at the local level. But then I started interacting with other people at the national level and found the same sorry state. People with little understanding of homeopathy were sitting at the helm in all our administrative and professional bodies and there was a continuous struggle to show their supremacy. I thought this was happening only in India. When Hpathy came into existence, I started interacting with people at the international level and soon realized that this problem was not limited to India alone. It was present in every country where there were more than a handful of homeopaths. Lack of trust for other homeopaths and lack of understanding for others’ work was (and is) very common. There have been times when I have felt very sad with the state of affairs. Now, after some more years of experience, I realize that such struggle for power is not unique to homeopathy, but is present in all sectors. Somehow, it seems more common and more visible within our homeopathic community!

Over the years, I have seen such a variety of insincere people that it makes me wonder whether the majority of homeopaths are themselves in need of homeopathic treatment. I have seen people presenting fake and fabricated cases in seminars, boasting of single remedy cures when they actually prescribed eight remedies in one go, calling themselves international teachers when they do not even understand Organon properly, writing books by copying material from ten other books, calling their small clinic a ‘research center’, fighting elections for homeopathic government bodies when they do not even practice homeopathy and criticizing other people’s work without even studying it properly. I wonder if the rubric ‘Indifference, apathy; Conscience, to the dictates of:‘ fits all these people. Sometimes these facts fill me with a sense of revulsion and sometimes they make me resolve to work constructively stronger.

In the last decade, we have seen an increasing divide among international homeopathy groups. The points of contention are often the new developments, approaches, theories and teachers. To create better understanding of all the new concepts and to discuss their role within the scope of homeopathic principles, the Hpathy Team has decided to initiate an open international dialogue. Our aim is to provide more information about the new developments, answer objections and criticism in a constructive way, and discuss their scope, benefits and limitations. You can read the full proposal draft for this dialogue at the link below:

We have received very positive replies from our leading homeopaths and the majority of them have already agreed to contribute to this dialogue. I invite you all to come forward and participate in this exchange of information and experiences. Let us all work together to create greater harmony among homeopaths.

Our current issue of Homeopathy 4 Everyone is dedicated to another new development in homeopathy – Homeopathic Facial Analysis (HFA) for finding out the underlying miasm of a person. The work has been pioneered by our eminent colleagues Grant Bentley and Louise Barton. Read their interesting Hot-Seat interview and find articles and cases that elaborate the concept of HFA. There is much more! I hope you will enjoy reading the articles in this issue as much as we have enjoyed putting them together. Do send me your feedback at editor@hpathy.com about various articles in this issue.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr. Manish Bhatia
